Desiderata 

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.  One of Cocoon's several annual mix series, Sound of the Season has always served a specific purpose: to bring together a slew of the records that defined the year for Sven Vath and his label mates. As a result, this year's compilation is heavy on 2011 anthems, including ubiquitous tracks like Todd Terje's "Ragysh," Steffi's "Yours" and Âme's remix of "Envision" by Osunlade. Vath includes a few gentler selections as well, kicking off the second disc (titled "Day") with the untitled A-Side from Workshop 13, Move D's latest cut of whimsical deep house. All in all, the Cocoon founder courses through more than two dozen tracks in roughly 160 minutes. 

Cocoon will release Sven Vath in the mix - The Sound of the Twelfth Season on November 18th, 2011.

GOGO Music unveils a soulful power-pack with ‘DJ Christos pres. Ree Morris - Inside Of Me’. This astute song by highly talented singer and multi-instrumentalist Ree Morris is tested on countless gigs and has the potential to cross over, as the heavy rotation airplay it already received prior its release on South Africa’s national radio-station Metro FM proves. The outing contains additional to the Main Mix, a beautiful Ralf GUM version, a driving Rocco mix, a deeper DJ Christos Magic Session Remix and a clever rework by Hood Natives.

Ree Morris was born in the late 80ies in the beautiful city of Cape Town, where he spent most of his life and which definitely influenced his sunny music. He grew up in a very artistic surrounding which ever encouraged him to use his talents to their full potential, though it was initially his mom who put him behind the Piano at the age of five. The Piano became and stayed his forte and main instrument, but Ree also plays the drums, guitar and bass guitar. Musically he has been drawn towards the Jazz, Pop and Hip-Hop, until the day he met the legendary DJ Christos. Thanks to him Ree came in touch with Soulful House Music and fell in love with genre. Consequently he had to expand his broad repertoire recently to House Music, which is the direction he’s taking his promising career now.

Christos is a South African Deep House legend and a bona fide pioneer of the style. Since the 80s, he has been linking up house-hungry communities from across the spectrum - black and white, local and international - via events and key DJ sets that have showcased his adamant belief in Soulful House. As a DJ, he has spread his unadulterated, Afro-centric groove far and wide, from ‘Maritzburg to Miami’, but it’s arguably that as a promoter Christos has done more than anyone in advancing Deep House’s cause across South Africa. As a mentor he’s let his skills spin down to a new generation through ventures like the annual SA Music Conference or by endowing the right sound to talent like Ree Morris in his studio.

Ralf GUM comes up with a breathtaking remix that effortlessly allies various influences he’s known and beloved in the music scene for more than two decades now. A chunk of soul in the instrumentation, a slight Afro House feel thanks to the drum and some Jazz elements grant his version of ‘Inside Of Me’ an enduring beauty.

French house supreme Rocco returns once more to GOGO Music to deliver, after his celebrated ‘Hard Time For Lovers’ release with Robert C. Walker in 2010 and his highly acclaimed ‘All This Love For You’ remix in 2008, one of his most classic works to date. Rocco wraps the vocals in a delightful played piano by Francois A and keeps his beat clean and straight for a maximum effect one the floor.

The Hood Natives add some extra Afro Soul to the release. The man behind Hood Natives, Sir LSG, is one of South Africa’s most aspiring young artists, who lately scored with his GOGO Music release ‘Sax In The City’ a chart topper not only on download sites, but as well the number 1 in the dance chart of YFM, Johannesburg’s prime Urban radio-station.

GOGO Music attests with this masterstroke release once again its clear-sighted and visionary maxim to delivering outstanding Soulful Music and at the same time present fresh talent to the scene.

This is a very rare opportunity to see Dimitri in such a small London space, & only his 2nd appearance in the capital this year...this is a must!

Dimitri has been a DJ over the years we've always wanted to book but didn't quite have the right space for him, until now. Constantly touring the world, playing regularly in the US, Far East and throughout Europe, whether at leading clubs such as Zouk in Singapore and his annual appearance at We Love...Space in Ibiza, or A-list parties, we reckon Dimitri to be the ultimate party DJ.

Then there's his production work. Starting in 1997 with the album that put him firmly on the road to success, "Sacrebleu", he's gone on to sell over a million records. We're very excited to have the opportunity to let him loose with the music he loves in such an intimate space, capacity is limited, advanced ticket purchase recommended.

We can’t wait to welcome back French techno/electronica producer Sébastien Devaud, aka Agoria into Room Two. Canada’s fabulous, Fred Everything will be swooping down with his house-friendly Lazy Days imprint to take over Room Three with none other than, Ian Pooely. Renowned for his classic disco and house tracks on Dfinitive Records, Effective Records and N.R.K Sound Division, the German producer has also remixed the likes Daft Punk, The Cardigans, The Beloved, Green Velvet and many more.

Kaum eine Band ist ähnlich legendär wie Kraftwerk, kaum ein anderer elektronischer deutscher Act wurde vergleichbar oft gesampelt, zitiert und imitiert: Das Quartett aus Düsseldorf verlieh dem digitalen Zeitalter den bis dato fehlenden Sound und beeinflusst seit inzwischen vier Jahrzehnten Künstler sämtlicher Genres: So gelten Kraftwerk heute als Pioniere und Urväter so unterschiedlicher Musikrichtungen wie Hip-Hop, Electro, House, Techno und Synthie Pop. Nun lässt sich die von Kraftwerk programmierte Bild- und Tonwelt erstmals im Kunstbau des Lenbachhauses als immersives Gesamtkunstwerk auch außerhalb des Konzertsaals erfahren: In einer speziell für den Kunstbau entwickelten 3D-Videoinstallation wird der einzigartigen Stellung von Kraftwerk innerhalb der Geschichte der bildenden und darstellenden Künste Rechnung getragen. DJ Hell, seit jeher glühender Bewunderer und Exeget des Kraftwerk-Sounds und inzwischen längst selbst eine Legende in der internationalen DJ-Szene, wurde von den Elektro-Pionieren höchstpersönlich gebeten, die große Aftershow-Party zu zelebrieren – und zollt in einer „Elektro Night“ mit seinen extrem tanzbaren, von Techno, House, Postpunk und Industrial beeinflussten Rhythmen dem Mythos Kraftwerk Tribut.

Tiga returns to BBC 6Music this weekend as part of his new bi-monthly residency.

Following his rapturously received debut appearance on the station in April, Canada's electronic ambassador Tiga will be returning to the hallowed BBC 6Music decks on Sunday 9th October for the first edition of a new bi-monthly residency with the aptly titled 'My Name Is Tiga' show.

The show, which will be broadcast this Sunday from 8pm to 10pm, will see the Montreal-based producer, DJ, label head and tastemaker delve deep into his collection and deliver a master class in forward-thinking electronic music, all underpinned by his inimitable personality. If you heard his first show, you can expect the return of sections like Internet Corner, Tiga's Mailbag & Football Corner, as well as an immaculate selection of classic to cutting edge music, and world exclusive never-before-heard tracks.

Two decades deep into his career and going stronger than ever, Tiga remains a pioneer of the electronic underground. An unparalleled resumé that includes two solo albums ('Sexor' and 'Ciao!'), numerous collaborative projects - including his work with Zombie Nation under the ZZT monikor - and remixes for the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Soulwax, and The XX has ensured that he remains one of the most inexhaustibly creative and respected musicians in dance music. Not to mention that as the head of the burgeoning Turbo Recordings label he has been the driving force behind stellar releases from the likes of Chromeo, Gesaffelstein, Azari & III and Boys Noize.

With the release of ZZT's hotly anticipated debut album 'Partys Over Earth' imminent, confirmed remixes for forthcoming singles from Azari & III and Friendly Fires, a touring schedule that stretches into 2012 and the Turbo Recordings imprint flourishing, he is a man very much at the top of his game. With the new 'My Name Is Tiga show', listeners will be welcomed into the world of one of the defining electronic musicians of our generation.

The show will be broadcasted on Sunday between 8pm and 10pm, with a repeat airing on Saturday 15th October. The mix will also be available for streaming on the 6 Music website until 23rd October.

L'International Kuduro Festival débute ce 6 octobre à Paris, avec une Kuduro Session au Showcase.

Pour comprendre les caractéristiques uniques du IKF, on commence fin des années 80, début des années 90, où par le biais de plusieurs Dj's et musiciens, est apparu un nouveau style qui a commencé à envahir les rues de Luanda. Initialement surnommé la Techno Angolaise ou Batida, c'est seulement plus tard lors de la fusion de rythmes angolais avec une musique électronique plus énergetique que vint le nom de Kuduro. Depuis le Kuduro est devenu l'une des musiques angolaises les plus populaires dans le pays, suivit des pays lusophones, et enfin du monde entier, aujourd'hui c'est un phénomène croissant dans la culture POP, supporté par des Djs et artistes internationaux tel que M.I.A, Rye, Rye, Don Omar, Buraka Som Sistema, etc.

Plus qu'un style de danse et une musique, le Kuduro est aujourd'hui un style de vie qui reflète l'énergie et la vibration des grandes métropoles. C'est la couleur, le rythme frénétique, l'humeur et la musicalité originale du Kuduro que IKF souhaite montrer au monde entier.

On Saturday 26th November, Lock N Load Events present the Together Winter Music Festival at London’s legendary Alexandra Palace.
