In her two decades of making music, Ultra Naté has remained a musical chameleon, embracing a variety of sounds, from R&B/hip-hop, soul and disco to house, rock and electro-pop. Her reasoning for doing this is quite simple: “I hate boxes,” Naté says. “Where’s the fun in being totally predictable?” She continues, “It’s always important to experiment and be a bit of a maverick in your [musical and pe...rsonal] stylings. Win, lose or draw, when it’s all over, people will respect you more if you don’t always play it safe.” Indeed.
Twenty years after sashaying onto international dance floors with the club anthem, “It’s Over Now,” Naté stands tall and proud, proving that artist longevity, though not common for singers of dance music, is alive and well—and a real possibility for those willing to work hard for the money

Ultra Naté’s 20 year anniversary in the business comes at a time of non-stop work and recording sessions. Working hard for the money means wearing numerous hats. Sure, Naté is the singer of the song, but she is also a songwriter, producer, DJ, label owner (BluFire and Deep Sugar), club promoter, live performer, and philanthropist!
For the Baltimore-residing Naté, such diversity is a natural extension—or evolution—from one creative aspect of the music scene to another. “I’ve been in this scene for a long time, so it’s easy for me to transition from one area to another rather seamlessly,” she explains. “Sure, I’m still learning some particular dynamics, but that’s the fun part of the process. When you stop learning you’re doomed.”
Sven Vath In The Mix: The Sound of the Twelfth Season 00-11-2011
One of Cocoon's several annual mix series, Sound of the Season
has always served a specific purpose: to bring together a slew of the
records that defined the year for Sven Vath and his label mates. As a
result, this year's compilation is heavy on 2011 anthems, including
ubiquitous tracks like Todd Terje's "Ragysh," Steffi's "Yours" and Âme's
remix of "Envision" by Osunlade. Vath includes a few gentler selections
as well, kicking off the second disc (titled "Day") with the untitled
A-Side from Workshop 13, Move D's latest cut of whimsical deep house.
All in all, the Cocoon founder courses through more than two dozen
tracks in roughly 160 minutes.
Cocoon will release Sven Vath in the mix - The Sound of the Twelfth Season on November 18th, 2011.

GOGO Music unveils a soulful power-pack with ‘DJ Christos pres. Ree Morris - Inside Of Me’. This astute song by highly talented singer and multi-instrumentalist Ree Morris is tested on countless gigs and has the potential to cross over, as the heavy rotation airplay it already received prior its release on South Africa’s national radio-station Metro FM proves. The outing contains additional to the Main Mix, a beautiful Ralf GUM version, a driving Rocco mix, a deeper DJ Christos Magic Session Remix and a clever rework by Hood Natives.
Ree Morris was born in the late 80ies in the beautiful city of Cape Town, where he spent most of his life and which definitely influenced his sunny music. He grew up in a very artistic surrounding which ever encouraged him to use his talents to their full potential, though it was initially his mom who put him behind the Piano at the age of five. The Piano became and stayed his forte and main instrument, but Ree also plays the drums, guitar and bass guitar. Musically he has been drawn towards the Jazz, Pop and Hip-Hop, until the day he met the legendary DJ Christos. Thanks to him Ree came in touch with Soulful House Music and fell in love with genre. Consequently he had to expand his broad repertoire recently to House Music, which is the direction he’s taking his promising career now.
Christos is a South African Deep House legend and a bona fide pioneer of the style. Since the 80s, he has been linking up house-hungry communities from across the spectrum - black and white, local and international - via events and key DJ sets that have showcased his adamant belief in Soulful House. As a DJ, he has spread his unadulterated, Afro-centric groove far and wide, from ‘Maritzburg to Miami’, but it’s arguably that as a promoter Christos has done more than anyone in advancing Deep House’s cause across South Africa. As a mentor he’s let his skills spin down to a new generation through ventures like the annual SA Music Conference or by endowing the right sound to talent like Ree Morris in his studio.
Ralf GUM comes up with a breathtaking remix that effortlessly allies various influences he’s known and beloved in the music scene for more than two decades now. A chunk of soul in the instrumentation, a slight Afro House feel thanks to the drum and some Jazz elements grant his version of ‘Inside Of Me’ an enduring beauty.
French house supreme Rocco returns once more to GOGO Music to deliver, after his celebrated ‘Hard Time For Lovers’ release with Robert C. Walker in 2010 and his highly acclaimed ‘All This Love For You’ remix in 2008, one of his most classic works to date. Rocco wraps the vocals in a delightful played piano by Francois A and keeps his beat clean and straight for a maximum effect one the floor.
The Hood Natives add some extra Afro Soul to the release. The man behind Hood Natives, Sir LSG, is one of South Africa’s most aspiring young artists, who lately scored with his GOGO Music release ‘Sax In The City’ a chart topper not only on download sites, but as well the number 1 in the dance chart of YFM, Johannesburg’s prime Urban radio-station.
GOGO Music attests with this masterstroke release once again its clear-sighted and visionary maxim to delivering outstanding Soulful Music and at the same time present fresh talent to the scene.

"Inside of me" by up and rising singer/multi-instrumentalist Ree Morris is a wonderful song featuring heartfelt vocals alongside a masterly orchestration in the original version. Ralf GUM contributes a beautifully crafted version which fuses a multeity of influences, with the result being a timeless slice of music. Rocco delivers a classic interpretation which features a grand piano by Francois A over an infectious yet smooth backdrop, while the Hood Natives grace us with their deep rendition oozing with a delicious laidback afro soul feel. GOGO MUSIC ROCKS AGAIN!
GOGO Music is at it again, making those legendary tunes that will guarantee maximum dance movements all over the world. This time around, our very own (proudly South African) DJ Christos and Hood Natives laced their production geniuses on a track titled ‘Inside of Me’ featuring Ree Morris. The DJ Christos Magic Session Remix is soulful to the absolute core. DJ Christos definitely holds the ground as the soulful, afro-centric, get-you-grooving from Maritzburg to Miami DJ with this remix. It has that nostalgic sound to it that will definitely take you back to the days when you first fell in love with house, but also at the same time take you to that current Sunday braai session with your peeps from your hood. Definitely soulful and real from the pioneer of house music in SA. Mind you, Christos has been in the game since the 80’s, so anything he touches turns into gold. And from the new school era, Hood Natives also laced their unique and deeply soulful production skills on the track. Their remix of this track is soulful with an afro-jazzy sound, which seems to be the latest interpretational style of the new era of local house music. And seeing Hood Natives (comprised of Sir LSG, DJ Fale, DJ Edge and DJ Squayi) have described themselves as a South African house music label with a deep, soulful signature sound, they stick to their word on this number, delivering nothing but a distinctively South African deep sound on the remix.
