5th April Carl Cox returns at Electric in Brixton

On Thursday 5th April Carl Cox returns to the Capital to commence a landmark three night residency at Electric in Brixton. The first two dates featuring Carl and special guests Alan Fitzpatrick and Dyed Soundorom have sold out, with the final date on Saturday 7th April down to the last remaining tickets. These will be Carl’s only London club shows of 2012 and a unique chance to catch one of the greatest DJs ever at the peak of his electronic wizardry. Those of you who have seen Carl, be it at Space Ibiza or headlining the world’s leading dance music festivals, know what to expect. For everyone else do not miss out on this final opportunity to witness the extreme talent of this living legend in the heart of London.

Here comes the summer; and here comes another season of Ketoloco parties at the Light Bar - something that has become a regular fixture on the London scene in recent years... The first, on Sunday May 6th, is to be headlined by Poker Flat's Vincenzo, Mobilee's Rodriguez Jr (live) and Kornél Kovács of Studio Barnhaus fame.
As always The Light Bar will be decked out with sound both indoors and out, whilst there is also a new VIP balcony upstairs. The party will start at midday, allowing you to catch some nice spring sunshine in the Bar’s secluded courtyard and grab a bite to eat from the BBQ. Then, as the warmth and light fades away, you’ll be free to roam inside amongst the darker, more headsdown beats coming at you through the killer Funktion One rig. Although this is now Ketoloco’s spiritual London home of four years, there will be one other change: the addition of a raised stage in the main room to keep things fresh.

It's been a busy start to 2012 for DJ Sneak! Already there have been 3 heavy releases for in-house labels Magnetic and DJ Sneak Classics, a remix of Azari & III, a re-release of the Henry Street classic 'The Polyester EP' and the small matter of compiling and mixing Fabric 62. The Fabric CD reviews and the DJ tour have been an amazing success with highlights on the road. The tour was crowned by an unforgettable night at Fabric itself.

There's no time to rest though as DJ Sneak will be hitting Miami hard in 2012 with no less than 15 gigs! Things kick off with the We The Brand party on March 19th and end with a back to back set with DJ Dan at Love/Hate. There’s a load of exciting stuff happening in between too, including the Magnetic, Sneak Beats and DJ Mag parties, head-to-head sets with Dubfire and Riva Starr, and an appearance at the Made 2 Play event. As a DJ, Philip Bader is in demand around the globe, enrapturing crowds in Berlin and far away places like Tel Aviv and Rome. As a producer his release catalogue reads like a who’s who of the elctronic music scene, and his own label is also not to be taken lightly. 

Without question, this native Berliner is one of the most active and pioneering minds in the world of Techno. Now, Bader has recorded his first studio album for Berlin record label, Highgrade Records. 

The title of the album, “Wishful Thinking“, already expresses one of Bader’s central desires: “I’ve tried to combine many styles, and also to bring in emotional elements to electronic music“. 

With this album he aims to leave behing any apparent restrictive boundaries and to simply let go creatively... wishful thinking? Not at all. “Wishful Thinking“ plays with conventional stylistic expectations, mixing what at first seem to be incompatible genres into a diverse and exciting album. 

The excitetment within “Wishful Thinking“ is generated not least through the range of new and unexpected collaborations present on the album. 

So is the voice of jazz singer Anna Luca, herself with a new album “Listen and Wait“, soon to be released in spring, employed by Bader, where her soulful voice shines through on the the track “Shine On Us“. For the tracks “Sunshine“ and “Wishful Thinking“, we are treated to a voice never before professionally recorded: “I had this insanely good piano loop and my best friend’s girlfriend sang over it and I immediately had goose bumbs!“ recalls Bader. 

For him it was a stroke of luck - as it was with many of the collaborating artists. “I think it’s great because the others bring something of themselves, and something entirely new is created“.

“Wishful Thinking“ offers something completely new in every way. The album cannot be put into any one catagory, switching skillfully between electronic sounds, jazzy tones, and house rhythms, while other musical influences make themselves evident in the background. 

Nevertheless, the album exists as a harmonious whole that looses none of it’s power or originality through it’s creative diversity. From here, Bader’s audience will surely be curious about the content of his planned global tour. 

For Philip Bader, “Wishful Thinking“ is the fullfillment of a dream that has taken a year to complete. “The longer you make music the more you want to get away from the standard 8 -15 tracks with the same contruction,“ This album therefore, is the right medium at the right time. 

The album was produced without any pressure, and as such Bader was able to let his creativity run free, something also that Highgrade Records has given him the freedom to achieve. 

“So I could make music that not everyone would have expected from me.“ Says Philip Bader himself. The result: Anything except Wishful Thinking.

Considered an essential tastemaker in the Electronic Music scene for almost two decades, Om Records have thrown parties around the world as eclectic and unique as the label itself. The repeatedly successful Om events at Winter Music Conference in Miami have made the Om name a trusted source for the best parties during WMC week. Past Om events have been known for their dynamite line-ups comprised of diverse talent, and this year’s party is no exception. Om have brought together talent from all across the spectrum! Om have partnered with Embrace Presents, the group responsible for some of today’s cutting-edge dance events, including the Mad Decent block-parties. Combining both company’s strengths, it is assured that every aspect of the OM Miami event will surpass all expectations. The party will be held at “Villa 221”, a previously unearthed gem in the heart of Miami. Villa 221 is a beautiful Spanish villa nestled in its own lush, private grounds, including three different musical environments – both indoor and outdoor. From the historic interiors to the open-air terrace to the tropical garden, every corner of the Villa grounds will be sure to complete the perfect atmosphere for another OM Miami party to remember.

Oxia is back new album : Tides of Mind

Almost eight years after the release of “24 Heures” (released by Goodlife), Oxia, a pioneer of the French electronic scene, is back in 2012 at last with a new LP. Perfectionist par excellence, Olivier Raymond is well known for his rare but highly appreciated productions. His EPS, as well as his remixes, released at the end of the noughties on Kompakt, Tsuba or 8bit have made him one of the key producers of the Beatport generation, reaching its climax with the international commercial success of “Domino” in 2006 or “Whole Life” in 2010. 

For his new album, Oxia decided to put aside the trendy electronic patterns and to move back to more classic but no less enjoyable House Music. With this said, the album is not shy of a deep and melodic sound that ventures to the dancefloor with a stamp of the Oxia groove.  "Tides of Mind" features vocal collaborations of Miss Kittin, Mesparrow and Scalde. A future classic for Home electronic amateurs as well Club goers!

"Tides of Mind" will be released end of April in France and early May in the rest of the world in CD/LP and digital.

A night with... M.A.N.D.Y at Loft Studios

This will be the first A Night With... at the incredible Loft Studios.

M.A.N.D.Y. is the alias, which embodies the mutual talents of childhood friends Philipp Jung and Patrick Bodmer who are now one of the most sought after DJ-production duos in the world. On Saturday 10th March Patrick Bodmer will be the next recruit in the A Night With…series to take us on his eight-hour musical solo voyage. Patrick will also be leading A Night With…for its West end debut, with March’s event taking place in NW10’s incredible Loft Studios.

Considered one of the pillars of Berlin´s electronic music scene with their label Get Physical with DJ T. and Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y. have been fusing experimental techno and house for years, always pushing the edge of electronic music with their unique groove-driven singles and mix compilations.  ‘Body Language’ was the ubiquitous hit of 2005 and M.A.N.D.Y.´s Fabric Series three years later cemented their reputation as some of the most captivating selectors on the planet. One of their most recent acclaims was a compilation for Renaissance in 2009, which was met with tremendous accolades and described by Resident Advisor as "maturity, smarts, and cohesion...that is rare these days."

Having carved a unique niche in electronic music by consistently selecting productions that induce their audience into a somatic frenzy, M.A.N.D.Y. have achieved massive success in colluding to create music that simply makes bodies move. Their foot stamping, hair-flying passion is the ultimate expression of a dance music phenomenon for many years

Loft Studios is a photographic studio by day, transformed at night into a stunning event space set within a Victorian Factory comprised of infinity coves, exposed brickwork, high-vaulted ceilings, vast windows and oak beams opening onto a courtyard. The studios are situated in a discrete, yet accessible area with no neighbours and overlooking a sprawling graveyard. Just 20 minutes on the Overground for those travelling from East London, the space is less than a 10 minute walk from Willesden Junction, with the party finishing in time for the first train back.

M.A.N.D.Y. opens the door to an amazing season of events in its new home over West.

Camea is starting out 2012 with a bang after last year's stellar break-out with her Clinkology Compilation and remixes out on Bpitch Control, Plus 8, Soma and a track on Get Physical's Jackathon compilation, which was hailed by DJ Mag as the #1 comp of 2011.

This year is proving to be no different as shown by her latest release on Upon You with Tim Xavier, which is being supported by artists such as Reboot, Timo Mass, Joris Voorn, Carlo Lio and Tim Green. In addition, she has as an exciting upcoming schedule with a release slated for Bpitch Control on April 6th, and a hot list of remixes cued up this Spring on labels like Get Physical's Kindish, AMAM, Clink and Scissors and Thread.
